Mount Olive Elementary School Reviews

Mt. Olive Elementary is a great school. My son loves it. The teachers are great and so is Mrs. Sullivan, the principle. We have a very active PTA that does a lot for our schools. Since Mrs. Sullivan has become principle our test scores are up, attendance is up and our car line flows like a dream. I love this school and am proud for my children to go there.

I would like to say my child has really enjoyed her grade this year. She has had a great teacher who is very caring and lets you know what is going on. I feel the new principal has made changes to suit the child compared to last years principal Ms. Whitehurst. I feel if the parent knows up front on Monday's what the class will be learning that week that helps at home especially if you have a child with ADD or ADHD. It is harder for them to comprehend. I feel the teacher makes a difference with ADD and ADHD children. I hope teachers have had training on how to work with kids with this disability because this is a disability and they need specail attention. Lets help the kids all we can.

My children have gone to Mt. Olive for many years. The school was wonderful when Mr. Andrews was principal, but it seems every time they change principals the moral gets worse. Structure and discipline is one thing, but this year the principal has taken things to a whole new level, and it is not a good one. The teachers have always been very good to my children and we will miss them dearly. However, I am very happy this will be our last year at Mt. Olive.

My daughter is in the first grade at Mount Olive and we absolutely love it! Her teacher (Ms. Vines) is wonderful and is always ready to give the kids one on one time. I love the atmosphere at the school. Everyone speaks and seems to really care about one another. I look forward to the next several years at MOE!

MO is a great school. I have no comlaints about any of the teachers my two children had, one in the 80's and the other the past 5 years. The teachers have been well qualified and eager to teach. Parental involvement is high & is encouraged at the school. The one area of complaint I have is in regard to P.E.too much pressure is placed on the kids.I know childhood obesity is a problem, however, eating disorders are also a problem.Weighing these young kids is upsetting to some because they are made fun of by those who weigh less.Preteen children do NOT need to skip meals and 'diet', which I have seen happen because of the fitness program. I feel it is the parents place to deal with fitness issues of their children, not school, or the government. A parent and their child should know the childs weight not school or government.

I have had 3 children pass through Mt. Olive Elementary and can only say what a great experience it has been. The teachers and staff are caring and always have time to answer any questions. I have always been welcome to come into the classroom and be a part of my kids learning experience (something that other schools frown on). I would give Mt. Olive a big thumbs up!

I just put in a review but I also wanted to add some things. Don't get me wrong about Mt. Olive I really love this school. The teachers are great and they seem to be very caring, loving and supportive. The Office Staff are very caring and also the principal. I just wanted more involvement from this school to be more concerned with children who are behind and who have special needs. These children should come first from the ones who are ahead of other children. There should be more tutoring for children. I am sure there are 5th graders who can tutor K5, 1st and 2nd grade. I would like for the school to become more involved in helping children who does need help. Children learn from each other. I feel everyone at Mt.Olive have been very friendly, helpful and caring. Keep up the good work.
