Mountain Brook High School Reviews

This school pretty much stinks. Everyday my son comes home saying that everyone is a snob and that it is very hard for him to find a real friend. He says that most of his teachers don't even pay attention to him when he asks questions. He also says that he feels there is no structure.

I'm also currently enrolled at Mountain Brook, and I love it. The community IS homogeneous. However, my fellow students are open and welcoming despite this. The community is wealthy, but the kids remain very grounded. At MBHS, there are options galore, ranging from basic to AP they offer upwards of 20 AP s. Most teachers I ve had have been great, and I ve developed close relationships with some. The counseling staff does everything they can to help. When I have run into schedule conflicts, they have made special arrangements so I can take the classes I select. Activities-wise, there s an option for everyone. Clubs abound, there are abundant sports and service options, the theater and choir programs are amazing, the debate team is good, the art program regularly wins awards Top MBHS grads get into the most prestigious schools in the country, and students are prepared with Mountain Brook s rigorous curriculum.

i am currently enrolled at mtn brook and too me its so unrealistic. its not the real world. and when people call it the tiny little kingdom it really is. i want to change schools but it is easier to get into some colleges apparently so my parents make me stay. this high school has so much materialism that it kills me sometimes.

We're new to the Mtn Brk system and have found the teachers and facilities to be without equal even when it comes to comparing them to private schools. Nothing but praise in this area. The kids are nice and come from well-heeled and well-off families, without exception. While this school has intoxicating combination of teachers, facilities, commitment, parental involment, ambition, and unlimitled resources, but it is really deficient in one thing; and it is big. There is ZERO diversity (and no, we are no exception) and I fear that at this impressionable age the kids are really missing out on perspective or 'Life in the Real World'. The real world does not look like or resemble this school. Go to any major corporation in this country as proof. For our kids sake lets try to incorporate some type of diversity events.

The entire school system is wonderful. I am a former student and now parent with kids in the system. I am constantly amazed at what a positive environment this school has. Everyone is so involved and encouraging in these schools. People want the best for the kids in these schools. My kids were attending a local private school but with a school like this in the area we decided to make a change. Every aspect of my children's school experience has changed for the better. They love school and are learning so much! 110% positive experience from my own past experience and now more importantly as a parent.

A truly excellent public high school.

It's a Great school system. Mountain Brook is such a good school and the teachers are great. Everyone is so helpful and alot of the kids get great grades. It's one of the best schools in the country and it is a really tough school, but the kids really study well and do their best!

The faculty really care about the students. Discipline could be a little stronger, but these are highly motivated kids, a little slack doesn't hurt.

One of the best schools in the country. All aspects exceed expectations and final results of the individuals are above average to stellar. The test material is virtually college level.

The highest academic expectations and curriculum for a high school. Extracurricular activities are numerous and focused on sports, community, the arts, and academic. Students are well prepared for college.
