Description

Museum and Art Gallery, St Philip’s Square, the Bullring & St Martins, Grand Central and plenty of surprises.Our walk takes us to some of the city’s most historic buildings. We appreciate English Baroque, Victorian Gothic, Brutalist 1960s and present-day architectural styles. We gain an understanding of the city’s origins, and hear what is around the corner in this city of continuous change.

We start on the steps of the  Museum and Art Gallery in Chamberlain Square. We head to Victoria Square and consider the  municipal centre and the major public art installations. We learn about the origins of New Street and see the site of the birthplace of Edward Burne-Jones. 
Grand Central is our newest major city centre development and we look a the concept of the  architect and how it is shaping up now it has been open a few years.
The Bull Ring is the original site of the medieval hamlet of Birmingham. We consider the modern Bull Ring and it's origins and St Martin's Church. We see the much-loved Bull statue and see the site of the largest Primark in the world!.
St Philip's Church offers a time to consider the artworks of Sir Edward Burne-Jones and this continues as we head back to the  Museum and Art Gallery.
